JBL Ceiling Speakers

Starting with their ceiling speakers, JBL have developed 3 ranges; Firstly the B-Series. The B series are JBL's most cost effective solution that combine good quality with an attractive price. The range consists of; B-6IC which has a 6.5" driver and the B-8IC which has an 8" driver offering more bass and sound output. They also have a single stereo option the B-6ICDT with dual tweeters. The B Series uses a 0.5" polymer tweeter and a poly driver, it is a nice cost-effective and easy to install offering opening the JBL range.

Next up we have the Stage Series. The Stage series is the next step up in the ceiling speaker range and offers a few noticeable improvements. The speakers use a poly-cellulose cone woofer and 1" Aluminium dome tweeter with an acoustic lens waveguide which enhances the audio to be more clear and precise. The Stage Series consists of the Stage 260C with a 6.5" driver, the Stage 280C with an 8" driver and the Stage 260CDT which is the single stereo option with a 6.5" driver. In addition to the core models, the Stage Series also has 2 specialised ceiling speakers for home cinema. The Stage 260CSA is the 6" driver model and the Stage 280CSA is the 8" driver models which are designed for home cinema applications. Both models have an angled design which allows for accurate aiming of the Poly-cellulose cone woofer and Aluminium dome tweeter with acoustic lens waveguide towards the listening area, it ensures fixed directionality for the speakers and means they can be used as the front LCR channels in a home cinema setup. The Stage Series really expands JBL's offering audio offering, enhances detail and overall sound quality, while opening up the range to more specialised features.

The Studio 2 6IC is our pick of the bunch, the 6.5" Poly-Plas woofer offers fantastic rigidity and resistance which results in exceptional bass response. The pivotal tweeter gives the speakers flexibilty of install and the high frequency fine tune is another great addition. All round a superb speaker giving HiFi level of high performance, fit for all use.

Along with ceiling speakers, JBL have also brought out a range of excellent in wall speakers, again for music listening and home cinema.

Like the ceiling speakers, the stereo in wall speakers come in the 3 tiers. The B Series consists of the B-6IW which is the 6" in wall model and the B-8IW which is the 8" model. Again the B Series represent excellent value for money whilst keeping a JBL sound profile and are the first in the JBL in wall range. The next step up, the Stage Series, consists of Stage 260W which is the 6" driver model and the Stage 280W which is the 8" model. The JBL Stage 280W combines fantastic JBL performance at a good cost-effective price. The 8" Polycellulose woofer and 1" aluminium dome tweeter combine to offer great clarity and punch across the frequency range whilst being the first in the range to offer JBL's exceptional High-Definition Imaging (HDI™) waveguide geometry. We chose the larger 8 inch driver model as the increase in bass as fantastic and works very nicely with in wall speakers.

JBL LCR Speakers

To add to their excellent home cinema applications, JBL has one of the best selections of LCR (Left, Centre, Right) speakers out there. LCR speakers work fantastically for the front channels in a home cinema setup, but can also be used all over. Let's take a look:

To kick off the range of LCR's we have the Stage 250WL LCR. This speakers opens up the LCR's with an extremely affordable and capable speaker, designed for use in home cinema main channels. It has dual 5.25" woofers and a 1” Aluminium tweeter with an acoustic lens and HDI™ waveguide and offers nice performance for the money with smooth dispersion and low distortion. Next up we have the Studio 2 Series of LCR's starting with the Smaller Studio 2 55IW with dual 5.25-inch driver's, and the uniquely larger Studio 2 88IW with dual 8 inch driver's. The studio 2 series enters the realm of fantastic hi-fi level of sound quality for LCR speakers taking design inspirations from legacy home cinema speakers such as the M2 Master Reference Monitor mentioned previously. They use the JBL compression driver straight from the professional world, and incorporate integrated treble and bass control, these professional quality, high-performance speakers can be easily adjusted to fit your home. The 2 dual driver LCR's are an excellent choice for any home cinema surround sound installation. The larger 8 inch driver in these is a unique offering from JBL that not many others do. Our Pick? - JBL Studio 2 88IW

JBL have done very well with their LCR speaker selection and our favorite has to be the Studio 2 88IW. Very few brands make an LCR speaker with dual 8 inch drivers and it's something we love, optimizing the bass on a speaker that offers as level sound as an LCR is a great idea and will greatly add to the overall immersiveness of your system. The Studio 2 series is the perfect range to enter into hi-fi realm of quality, incorporating historical design traits from flagship models in JBL's lineup.

JBL Outdoor Speakers 

To add to the range, JBL have also come up with outdoor speakers. Lets take a look:

 JBL's outdoor speakers come in 2 sizes; the XD-5 (5 inch driver) and the larger XD-6 (6 inch driver). The XD Series of outdoor speakers have a nice aesthetic look and come in both black and white colourways. They are all year round waterproof and UV resistant meaning you can leave them up and forget about them, this results in an IP67 rating which means the speaker is protected from the hardest weather conditions.The speakers have a Polypropylene Graphite Filled Cone Woofer and a 1” (25mm) Aluminium tweeter with an acoustic lens and HDI™ waveguide, waveguide geometry have been incorporated into the design to ensure that the sound is clear and accurate. The speakers can be mounted horizontally or vertically and the JBL logo can be pivoted to suit orientation, the wall-mount bracket allows for easy installation and angle adjustment. The speakers encapsulate JBL's famous big fulsome sound which is perfect for outdoor areas, that combined with a great looks makes the XD series are a good choice.
