The Mission QX-4 floorstanding speakers boast bass drivers that feature Mission’s DiaDrive system, a seam-free curvilinear cone that has been formulated from a mixture of soft pup and acrylic fibre. This DiaDrive system has been specially designed in order to provide these stunning speakers with natural midrange clarity and lucidity.
The Mission QX-4s also utilise Mission’s Inverted Driver Geometry (IDG) driver format which positions the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, equalising the length of the signal path and thus allowing the sound waves to coincide at head height for the listener. This driver design principle will improve time alignment and offer an overall better response when listening to music or watching movies.
When it comes to aesthetics, the QX-4 speakers work hard to ensure they remain stylish whilst able to fit within any system, but the design aspects of the speakers have more than one function. Aluminium top and bottom plates enhance the quality of sound whilst providing a more modern feel; a ribbon-like design across the slot ports ensure the speakers look high-tech whilst enhancing the airflow and avoiding any chuffing from within the bass reflex ports, resulting in a low-frequency performance that achieves lower levels of distortion;
The Design Concept
QX series was designed to marry advanced engineering with a highly attractive and unique design that lets the speakers fit perfectly into the modern home. The front panel appearance hints at the advanced technology inside the speakers whilst presenting an attractive face to the listener.
Reverse Geometry Driven Design
Mission QX series utilizes Mission’s classic IDG (Inverted Driver Geometry) driver format. By positioning the treble unit below the bass/midrange driver, the length of path is equalized so the sound waves coincide at the listener’s head height. This principle improves ‘time alignment’.
New "Ring Dome" Treble Unit
New ‘ring dome’ treble unit offers high levels of musical detail with low distortion - the usual dome cavitation effects are completely avoided
Dual ring radiator – Mission’s exclusive ‘ring dome’ utilizes a woven, textile material formed in a double ring arrangement. The combination of textile dome and multi-ring surround applied optimum stiffness to the maximum radiating area.
Twin rear cavity non-reflecting design – back pressure from the diaphragm is vented to a twin rear cavity, reducing resonance and maintaining a wide operating bandwidth.
Bass Drivers Feature Mission DiaDrive System

DiaDrive Twin Cone Design
Backing the curvilinear front cone is a stiff, conical support with increased area of contact with the voice coil for outstanding transient impact.
The drive unit surround and fixing screws are cleverly concealed behind this unique trim design giving a highly technical look to the front face of the speaker.
Aluminium Top Plate
The inclusion of aluminium top and bottom plates to the cabinet not only gives an attractive, high-tech appearance to the speakers but also enhances sound quality. The added mass and stiffness reduces resonance from the cabinet walls, lowering coloration and distortion.
Ribbon-like Slot Port Design
The new slot port design features ribs to enhance airflow and avoid the "chuffing" so often heard from bass-reflex ports. The result is enhanced low frequency performance with lower distortion.
Arc Shaped Cabinet Corners
The semi-circular arc shape of the cabinet corners smooths diffraction from the drive units, yielding better power distribution into the room.
