Fire & Acoustic Hoods: Adding a fire/acoustic hood not only provides the necessary fire barrier demanded by UK Building Regulations, but is also a great way to improve the performance of a ceiling speaker. Enclosing the speaker in a specific volume of air helps improve bass response and dynamics. As a result we strongly recommend speaker hoods for all ceiling speaker installations. Please Note: Most in-ceiling and in-wall speakers are designed to utilise the installation cavity as an acoustic enclosure. As a result, this type of open-backed custom install speaker must be installed to achieve optimum performance. Testing them in open air without an enclosure will not allow the speakers to produce their true sound quality.
